Electric Charging with Load Balancing for Home or Office

Electric Charging with Load Balancing for Home or Office

Electric charging with Load Balancing for home or office, also known as electric charging by means of power distribution, means that the available power from the grid connection is automatically distributed to all connected charging stations. How does this work? The charging station analyzes the power that is available at that time and the amount the vehicles need. Thanks to smart technology, the released power is distributed over the available charging stations, so that maximum power is allocated. Ideal when multiple charging points are used. With limited capacity, multiple electric cars can therefore be charged, without having to invest in making the grid connection more heavy .

Why does the charging station distribute the power?

Electric cars are increasingly being charged with high power. When several electric vehicles are connected at the same time, charging can entail high costs. EN Plus has therefore come up with a smart and practical solution to distribute the available power among several vehicles that are connected to the charging station. The result is a safe charging situation without having to invest in a heavy, expensive connection.

What are the consequences of the charging speed?

The smart charging station is designed in such a way that the electric car is charged as quickly as possible. As a result, load balancing is activated when needed. In other situations, the electric car is charged with full power. In many cases, the charging station will deliver the maximum power per socket even for two vehicles.

Load balancing at home

Load balancing is also used in the home situation. By purchasing an electric car, it can happen that the electrical connection becomes overloaded. This situation can occur when the washing machine and the car require power at the same time. Load balancing is used to avoid overloading the power network. In this case, the charging speed is adapted to the remaining power consumption in the house. The electrical appliances are given priority and the remaining capacity is sent to the car. With a link to a smart meter, Dynamic Load Balancing is possible and all cars can be loaded as optimally and as quickly as possible.

Load balancing in workplace

Dynamic Load Balance is a smart charging feature which balances the distribution of the total available power between chargers and other loads within the building in real time. It not only protects appliances, but also ensures EVs are fully charged at the lowest cost.

CT box monitors the total energy consumption and reports to the management system. The system controls the charging power of each individual charger automatically to avoid overloading when chargers and other loads are being used simultaneously.

Load balancing at a charging plaza

At a charging plaza, we look at how much power the electric cars need and how much power is available. The management system distributes the power among the charging stations based on maximum capacity. Load balance helps you to protect the local grid within the capacity limit in peak hours of electricity consumption. EVs can charge with maximum power when possible, but the charging power will drop as more EVs begin to be charged simultaneously. For example, the parking lot has a maximum of 32A available. When the first EV charges, it charges at 32A – the maximum capacity. When more EVs start charging, the charging capacity will be distributed evenly over the EVs.
